Some days, I get the urge to sell off as much as I can, pack what I can fit in the car, and just drive. I'll drive for 2-3 days, then start a new life under a new name wherever I wind up. Just a complete fresh start. Some days I have that urge...

It's mah birfday [Mar. 4th, 2009|12:22 am]
32 years old today. I've got work, school, and sleep, so I won't really be celebrating much of anything.

Feel free to throw some love in here. And/or nudes.

I'm sitting on $1200 right now...and it smells of taco farts.

Going to a meeting for a comedy show on NTTV today. I hope there are some other funny people there...I'm too lazy to be the funniest guy in the room.

I was excited about my week being over, when I realized that my weekends are just as busy. Spring Break can not come fast enough.

I talked to Halo last night about doing a children's book. Just her art style alone would sell it, but I think I can come up with a story that would work for kids, but also be enjoyable for adults. Kind of like a "second generation geek" kind of thing.

After a three month retirement from judging, I'm going back to work an event this weekend. In my defense:

-It's not Yugioh, I'll be doing demos for their new game, Huntik.

-The payout is really good.

-I got out of rehearsal and Rocky stuff beforehand, so I won't be pushing myself too hard that weekend.

And after that, I'm back to being retired. Just a one shot deal, like a wrestling retirement.

Can't be arsed to post [Jan. 30th, 2009|07:03 am]
And yet here I am typing. No real reason, just feels like it's been too long since I've typed in this. Hmm, let's see...I'm an hour away from being done with work. I took a linguistics quiz tonight, despite the loud ass residents I had to deal with in the office until after 4 AM. Seriously, they're all sitting at the same table, and yet they yell like they're 100 feet away, during a monster truck rally. Why can't I have a tranquilizer gun behind the desk?

Also, the ice storm, while awesome for my Warcraft character, was a pain as far as classes went. When you only go to class three times a week, missing two of those just means extra stuff to catch up with later down the line.

I am loving the Zune. Best purchase I've made in a while. Next thing in line is a new desktop once my financial aid check comes in. It should have been here by now, but UNT switched to a Higher One card, which exists only to make my life more difficult. I hope UNT got a massive payoff from the company, because their incompetence kept me from my monies for a good week and a half. Jerkasses, one and all.

I'm getting pretty close to graduating now, it makes me wish I could take a semester off of work and go to school full time. I have no idea how I'd pay for things during that semester, but I'd be able to get everything done and have time to study and work on projects during normal people hours.

Does anyone know of a place in Denton that does combination chiropractic/massage services? My back needs to be adjusted, and I've also got crazy knots in it that I can feel whenever I move. It'd be nice to get it all taken care of at once...and soon.

That's all I've got. Still need to see The Wrestler, but I don't want to have to drive to wherever it's playing.

I suppose I should update this [Jan. 14th, 2009|02:20 am]
So, not much going on lately in my life...Rocky Horror is still going well. Speaking of Rocky, here are some links from a couple weeks back:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkMTgdFG-Eg&feature=channel_page

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXSHz3W_HTk&feature=channel_page

That was some good times.

School starts next week, and I'm trying to get into the classes I need to graduate. I have to email someone to try to get into a PSCI class (got a D the first time I took it, and I need to raise my GPA), and then find something online to take, so that the RTVF advisor will let me into an RTVF class this semester and I can get closer to graduation. All I have left to take are RTVF classes, and I'd like to be able to focus on those and those alone. Hopefully I can get it taken care of in time.

The weight loss has stalled out, mainly my own fault, I've been hungry as hell lately, and just too tired to maintain the willpower to keep it up. I've been maintaining at 305 though, which is good, and I'm still making mostly good choices. They're opening a workout room at my apartment complex soon, I can start going there for some treadmill/bike time.

I pooled most of my Christmas monies and bought a 120 GB Zune, since I had yet to join the digital music age. I'm loving it so far, I just regret that my music collection is so badly sorted. I've been listening to a lot of stuff that I've had sitting around, but just never had gotten around to listening to (or listening to in a while), so that's a plus.

I could really use a girlfriend, but I've been single for so long, I don't know what the hell I'd do with one.

I also need more time with World of Warcraft, but people keep wanting me to go spend time with them. I like not being a hermit, but I also like being a hermit...it makes sense to me, dammit!

Writer's Block: Tricky Questions [Jan. 14th, 2009|12:32 am]
[Tags|]

What is your first reaction when someone says "I need to talk to you"?

View 503 Answers

"Sure, what about?"

Then I try not to panic, because my mind has a few seconds to imagine the worst possible scenarios, then it winds up being something like "Can you get this down off that very high shelf for me?"

In the interest of killing time... [Nov. 13th, 2008|01:42 am]
and also because I think it's a cool idea...

Okay, so many years ago, when I still lived in Bruce, we were all sitting around in the wee hours of the morning and someone asked the question "What would you do with a billion dollars?" I still remember my answer, and considering this was well over ten years ago, I might as well put it into words.

I would buy an office building, wire it for phone, high speed, internet, the works. Then I would hire 20 of my friends. They would be chosen for their creativity, work ethic, and general awesomeness. Yes, I do have a short list in mind at any given time. They would each get a $150,000 salary, company car, and their own floor of the building. They would also each get a $10 million annual budget.

Then, they can do whatever they want.

The only rules are:

-They must spend at least 20 hours a week in the building.

-I get 10% of any profits they make.

-We get co-ownership of any patents.

-Every Friday, all of us have a lunch meeting and discuss what we've been up to, or just shoot the shit for a while.

And that's it. I have always been fortunate enough to have some really creative friends, and I'd like to see what they would do if they had time and money, and didn't have to worry about their own finances, deadlines, etc. If someone wants to build Lego cities all day, they'd probably be the best Lego cities known to man. If someone wants to invent a dashboard mounted waffle iron, it'd make waffles so good, you'd slap your momma.

My theory is that people are capable of so much more when you take the shackles off, and let them just go crazy. Thomas Edison didn't punch a clock, he worked his balls off at his own pace, and invented the light bulb, the phonograph, and rap music. Look it up, bitches!

I am incredibly crabby right now. It may just be fatigue combined with back pain though. I fell down some stairs while doing Rocky Thursday night, then managed to pull something else doing something at Saturday night's show. Anyway, I'm all whiny and meh, and full of rage at the other floorwalkers.

This was a good weekend though; got to hang out with the Taco Queen, then weeks of subterfuge paid off as we managed to sneak Alex in as Brad for Rocky this weekend without Leah finding out about it until opening dance when he was suddenly up there in costume. Pumpkin pancakes are the bomb-diggety. Fantasy basketball draft went well, minus a few technical snafus. I like my team so far, and with only 6 guys in the league, there are plenty of free agents available for pickups. It's looking to be a light week for school, just a couple of quizzes to take, so I can hopefully rest up, since this weekend is going to be Halloween Rocky madness.

Oh, and I got some Dr. Brown's root beer at Central Market tonight. It takes me back to when I was a child in Indiana, and my Grandma Shirley would take me to the zoo. I'd always get a peanut butter and jelly sammich, chips, and a Dr. Brown's root beer for lunch. Good times.

Okay, still crabby. Going to stop typing and try and find a comfortable position for my back, then take a knee and run out the clock at work.

So I've got the TV Tokyo live feed going in the other window, and Hannah Montana just came in...in Japanese. A whole library of anime, and that's what they give us. We may have to bomb them again.

Hey unregistered voters... [Sep. 2nd, 2008|09:12 am]
I'm a deputy voter registrar now, so if you or anyone you know needs to get registered, I've got your hookup. Did you know, you have to get registered before 30 days before the election? I didn't, but now I do. That gives you all of September and a little of October to get it done. DO IT!!!!!!

Sarah Palin? Might as well have picked Michael Palin. They managed to find the least qualified person for the job who doesn't currently draw a paycheck from Fox News.

In which i explain how much life has hated me in the last week... [Aug. 21st, 2008|07:07 am]
For those of you who don't know, I moved into a new apartment at the end of July. The move-in date was on a Friday, but because the AC wasn't working, we didn't get to move in until Tuesday.

Forward to last Tuesday, when I come home from work to a hot apartment. The AC had gone out, so iIwent to the office, they sent maintenance out, and the AC was fixed later that afternoon. Now go to Thursday, where I once again come home from work to a hot apartment. I go to the office, but this time, no guy. No guy Friday either, and he wasn't there all weekend. Monday after work, I go back to the office to complain, he comes out and looks at it, says he's going to need to order a new AC, but it won't be in until Tuesday.

Interlude A: Our refrigerator had started going out, and milk was spoiling fast, etc. Freezer was fine, but I didn't want to have to keep buying milk, so I put in a work order on the fridge. They came by Tuesday with a new one.

Interlude B: Sunday I started getting a sore throat, and by the time I was off work Monday morning, I had a full blown sniffly, sneezy, congested, sore throat, meh-fest going on in my sinuses. I decide to take sick time to recover.

So that takes us back to Tuesday. We've been in a hot apartment for 6 days, it's raining, I'm sick and miserable, and I had a questionable sammich (meat had gone mostly over, but since I have no sense of smell, I didn't notice anything) because I didn't want to run the oven in the hot apartment. Maintenance comes by with a new refrigerator, so we transfer the food over to that one. He can't install the AC because it's raining (yes, the one time it rains in Texas, and it serves only to delay relief). I'm still sick, my nose is sore from blowing it all day, and it's wicked hot in the apartment. Too hot to sleep, too hot to cook, too hot to do much of anything.

Wednesday rolls around, and I wake up super pissed. I go to check the fridge, and I discover that the damn thing never got cold, and all of our food has gone over. I head to the office early, let them know that they had better install the damn AC today, oh and by the way the new (and I use the term new loosely, because it looked like they picked it up from the side of a road) had ruined a fridge full of food. With nothing else to do, I read for a few hours. Around Noon or so, Phil and I head back to the office to make sure that we're going to get taken care of today, as it looks like it'll rain soon, and I don't want the rain to stop them from installing the AC again. A couple hours later, another old and busted fridge shows up, and this one sucks just as much as the other one. Finally, around 5ish, maintenance comes by and installs the AC, and by 6 PM we have cold air in the apartment for the first time in a week. If I'd known it was going to take that long, I'd have gone to HVAC school and built my own AC unit out of tin foil and nickels. As of now, I still don't have a working refrigerator, although allegedly one will be coming by today (I'll believe that when I see it). I'm also still sick, and my voice sounds like crap.

On the good side: Nuggett loaned me a bag full of Star Wars novels, weight loss is holding steady, and my hair still looks fantastic. Seriously, just touch it, it's ever so soft. Yeah, you know you want to.

Writer's Block: Six-Word Story [Aug. 14th, 2008|02:51 am]
[Tags|]

Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” He is believed to have called it his greatest literary work ever. Can you write a story in six words?
